The Four Styles

Influence (I)

The Influence style describes people who are enthusiastic, optimistic, and driven by social recognition. I-style individuals are natural communicators who energize groups, build relationships easily, and create buy-in through enthusiasm rather than authority. They value collaboration, creativity, and positive feedback. Under pressure, they can become disorganized, overly talkative, or avoid conflict and hard conversations. Their greatest strength is their ability to inspire and connect. Their greatest risk is starting more than they finish.

What It Means

In practice, someone high in Influence will build rapport before talking business, speak with enthusiasm, and persuade through energy rather than cold arguments. They need social recognition and positive interactions to stay motivated. Under stress, that same energy can turn into scattered follow-through or escaping into socializing instead of action.

Real Example

At a project kickoff, Léa (I style) runs the meeting with humor, praises every idea raised, and gets the team excited to get involved. Three weeks later, several tasks she promised haven't been done: the initial enthusiasm never turned into rigorous follow-up.

Not to Be Confused With

The Influence style is not superficiality or social manipulation: it's a genuine preference for human connection as a driver of action, which can coexist with rigor when structured by other styles around it.
